Academic Excellence
Grace Christian Academy’s Core Beliefs
1. We believe a Christian administration and faculty must model Christ in teaching and leading according to our statement of faith.
2. We believe that a parental partnership is ideal for positive education experiences.
3. We believe that all individuals have a right to work and learn within a safe and caring environment.
4. We believe that all individuals should become lifelong learners.
5. We believe that most students can learn given sufficient time, appropriate support, and relevant, diverse educational experiences.
6. We believe that students should know what they are to learn, be guided on how they are to learn it, and understand its application for
their lives.
7. Staff development is best accomplished through an environment of cooperation, trust, and continuous improvement.
8. We believe educational programs need to be research-based, results-oriented, aligned, reflective of God’s truth, and supportive of G.
C.A.’s mission.
9. We believe that every individual in our organization is worthwhile and deserving of respect, and should reflect through their behavior
respect for themselves and others.

Dear Parents and Students:
2010 and 2011 school year is going to be a great year at GCA and I’m excited
about it! We will have new curriculum in high school. This will be our first year
to offer Advance Placement courses in science. We have a new vocabulary
program in grades K-12. Will be utilizing the Wordly Wise in grades K-8 and the
Advanced Placement Vocabulary program specifically tailored to prepare
students for the S.A.T. test and the English Advanced Placement test. We have
also incorporated the Direct Hits vocabulary development program. Research
has shown these two programs to have the highest proportion of words
appearing in the S.A.T. and AP tests.
This year we will also begin our program of direct assistance to students making
their applications to college. I will teach a class each week to senior students
leading them through the application process to improve their college eligibility.
We are proud of our progress at GCA and I look forward to working with you and
your students this next year.
I am available for consultation by phone or by meeting at any time. Simply call
Amy or Jacqueline in the school office at (02) 2785-7233 and ask for me.
Sincerely,
Calvin Owens, Ph.D.
